1. The Sukhothai Hotel
2. The Peninsula Hotel

The Executive Committee members were requested to assist in contacting members with outstanding membership fees in order that we can finalise the membership list for 2006.

P.R. Committee

Bob James reported that he has been in contact with a few members of the travel media to serve on the P.R. Committee. The meeting decided we will review the list of potential members at the next meeting. Imtiaq Muqbil, Executive Director, Travel Impact, is one of the candidates.

Marketing Committee

IT&CMA CWT 2006, October 10th-12th, 2006, at PEACH, Pattaya

Mr. Luzi Matzig, Chairman, informed the meeting that the Marketing Committee will once again plan to organize a luncheon meeting on the first day of the IT&CMA CWT 2006, and will sponsor the buyers and travel press only.

The Secretariat will approach the organizer of IT&CMA CWT 2006 for this luncheon meeting and to book an appropriate-size function room at the PEACH, Royal Cliff Beach Resort.

However, this luncheon meeting will only be organized if we are able to find sponsorship to cover the buyers and travel press.

A panel will be planned to speak on the MICE industry and TCEB will be invited to be a sponsor as well as a panelist.

The meeting decided that with sponsorship we will charge our members and non-members and especially the travel industry of Pattaya, a fee of Baht 900 - Baht 1,200 per person depending on the cost of the lunch.

Financial Report for June/July 2006

In the absence of Khun Kusa Panyarachun, Hon. Treasurer, the financial reports for June/July were reviewed.

Education Committee

Bob James, Chairman, reported that we made a profit of Baht 78,631.25 from the "Basic MICE Seminar".

He informed the meeting that the results of the survey were excellent and the majority of the delegates have requested that we plan another MICE seminar and a long list of excellent topics were received from the seminar participants.

The meeting reviewed the list of suggested topics and requested the Education Committee to plan another MICE Industry seminar in August/September.

The Education Committee will also plan another IT Seminar over the next few months.

It is planned to work closely with TCEB for sponsorship as well as all the travel industry associations, for them to assign guest speakers once again as well as to assist to promote our seminars.

Bob James informed the meeting that David Barrett has confirmed the seminar entitled "Corporate Meetings & Incentives - the Big Picture". The meeting suggested that this seminar be held on the same day as our traditional "SKAL/PATA Joint Xmas Luncheon", on Tuesday, December 12th. This date is subject to confirmation by SKAL.

The meeting noted that since the above seminar must be held in a large theatre or cinema, that we should approach the following venues -

1. Novotel Siam Cinema (M.L. Hathaijanok to follow up)
2. Central Plaza cinema hall
3. MBK Hall - lunch could be held at the Pathumwan Princess Hotel

Industry Development Committee

Khun Danai Wansom, Chairman, informed the meeting that the Thailand Tourism Council recently had their Annual Elections and PATA Thailand Chapter no longer has a seat on the Executive Committee. However, Khun Kusa Panyarachun will still serve as the Honorary Chairman on a personal basis.

The meeting requested M.L. Hathaijanok to check how the PATA Thailand Chapter can have a role in the Thailand Tourism Council as it is extremely important that we have a prominent role in the local travel industry.

4. Any Other Business

Courtesy Visit to Khun Jutamas Siriwan, TAT Governor

The Secretariat will follow up to finalise this courtesy visit on August 22nd, at 1100 hrs.

If the Courtesy Visit is confirmed the Executive Committee will meet at TAT (at the office of the Thailand Tourism Council) at 0900 hrs.

The meeting noted the importance that all members of the Executive Committee must participate in the Courtesy Visit in order to ensure that the PATA Thailand Chapter plays an important role in the local travel industry.

PATA Thailand Chapter Website <www.pata-thailand.org>

The meeting requested Bob James to submit a quotation to upgrade the Thailand Chapter website.

PATA Board & Committee Meetings, Hong Kong

The meeting reviewed a request submitted by Bob James to attend the following meetings as an Observer - Education Committee, Sustainable Tourism Committee and Research Committee Meetings to be held during the PATA Board & Committee Meetings from September 15th-17th, 2006.

The meeting stated that traditionally the Thailand Chapter will cover an economy-class airline ticket as well as US$100 per day per diem. A decision will be made by Bob if he will attend the above meetings.

PATA Award of Merit

The meeting will propose Jerry Picolla for this award as the creator and organiser of the PATA Travel Mart.

Attendance at Executive Committee Meetings

The meeting decided that in the event a member of the Executive Committee is unable to attend more than two meetings consecutively that a replacement should be assigned to attend in order that there is continuity for the running of the Thailand Chapter.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 1130 hrs.
