  • Help Us Map the Future of Tourism Marketing in Thailand
    The Joint Foreign Chambers of Thailand, Skal Thailand and the PATA Thailand Chapter, in cooperation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, is inviting Thailand's international tourism industry leaders and stakeholders to attend Thailand Tourism Marketing – Mapping the Future at the Shangri-La Bangkok on 19 May. The aim of "Mapping the Future" is to let all English speaking stakeholders, both Thai and foreigners have a clear say in the future of tourism in Thailand.
    Four key themes will be explored during one-day forum: 1) strengthening the Thailand brand image 2) promoting sustainable tourism, 3) e-marketing & social media, and 4) reputation management. Confirmed speakers include Dr. Xu Chen, China Tourism Academy, Beijing; Mr Tim Riches, Chief Growth Officer Asia Pacific, FutureBrand; Dr Thomas Bauer, School of Hotel and Tourism Management, Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Mr Tiwa York, Director Digital Business, Omnicom Media Group; Dr David Beirman, Senior Lecturer - Tourism, University of Technology, Sydney; and Prof. Dr. Frank Go, Chair of Tourism Management, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University.

    Breakout 'roundtable' sessions in the afternoon are open-floor giving all attendees a chance to contribute. All sessions will be in English. The cost is only THB 500 per attendee.     Two New Luxe Maikhao Properties Open in Phuket Area
    The Maikhao Dream Resort & Spa on Natai beach in Phangnga near Phuket soft opened on 26 March. Located a 30-minute drive from Phuket airport, the 56-room resorts features deluxe pool and sea view units and spacious two-storey duplexes. Other facilities include the biggest swimming pool on Natai beach, a kid's club and a fitness centre. Guests can enjoy sightseeing, fishing, kayaking, bicycling, excursions and cruising on the Maikhao Dream luxury boat. The Blue Canyon golf course is a 30-minute drive from the resort. Opening offers include a 20% discount on room, breakfast for two, and round-trip transfers from the airport.     Experiential Spa Journey at Coqoon
    Phuket's designer Coqoon Spa has announced its "Coqoon Spa Revival" package. The only spa in Thailand offering tree-top cocoon treatment facilities was designed by Bill Bensley studios. Coqoon Spa aspires to create an experiential journey that awakens the senses by carefully blending Thai traditions with modern wellness treatments. The Coqoon Spa Revival package combines a variety of results-driven treatments designed for detoxification, an energy boost and an overall therapeutic experience.     Indigo Pearl Phuket Offers Songkran Promotion

    RV River Kwai: New Guaranteed Departures
    Starting June 2011, RV River Kwai is offering two guaranteed departures every month without the minimum number of passengers required. The dates are the first and third Monday (upriver cruise) every month. CruiseAsia guarantees the cruises even if only one cabin is booked. Other departures are on request or need a minimum of four clients to operate. The RV River Kwai carries a maximum of 20 passengers in 10 teakwood cabins (single deck) and offers a four-day/three-night year-round program every Monday-Thursday and Thursday-Sunday.     Shangri-La Hotel Bangkok Opens Long Bar
    The Shangri-La Hotel Bangkok has opened the Long Bar at the lobby level offering selections of cocktails, premium spirits and spices, malts and Martinis, healthy boosters and tailor-made concoctions as well as snacks. A three-piece band performs daily from 6pm to 11:45 pm. Happy hours are from 5pm to 8 pm and 10 pm until midnight, when guests can select two drinks for the price of one.
