  • Thailand and Its New 'RICHI' Markets
The The PATA Thailand Chapter has arranged a half-day seminar on July 12 for the Thailand travel industry. The focus will be on learning the expectations and characteristics of tourists in Russia, India, China and Indonesia (the 'RICHI' countries). Catering for old markets such as Europe is increasingly irrelevant for Thailand. Are we building resorts and providing tourism services that meet the (sometimes) very different holiday needs of a new type of tourist? If the Thailand tourism industry gets it right, what are the benefits? What are the first steps to take to attract and satisfy RICHI holidaymakers?
These issues will be addressed Tuesday July 12 at the Landmark Hotel Bangkok from 0900 until 1400. Speakers include tourism behaviour expert Dr Philip Pearce of James Cook University in Australia. Joining him will be Mr Andrey Snetkov, Contract & Marketing Director, TEZ Tour, Mr Ravi Bhatia, Director, Indian Host, and Dr Adith Chairattananon, CEO, Golden Live Travel (China), as well as an Indonesia expert. The event costs 850 baht for PATA and Skal members and 1,050 baht for non members. The price includes two coffee breaks, lunch and seminar documents. Payment can be made at entry (but must be pre-booked). For a full progam and extra details visit: http://www.pata-thailand.org/events_activities.html.
