The Paradise Koh Yao, just off the east coast of Phuket, is offering a four-day/three-night romantic escape packages at its new hilltop pool villa. The villa is a 360 sqm two-story pool villa with two master bedrooms. For three nights, prices start from THB 65,000 for the entire upper floor with one master bedroom, 12-metre pool with extended pool deck, spacious living and dining room with kitchenette. It is THB 35,000 for the entire lower floor with one master bedroom, 12 sqm on-deck Jacuzzi with extended pool deck, spacious living area with bar and private pavilion.

Asian Oasis has opened Lanjia Lodge in Chiang Rai province in northernmost Thailand. It is located on a hillside overlooking the Mekong River and Laos. The local villagers are Hmong and Lahu tribes. The lodge consists of four local-style thatched cottages. Each features a shared living area and four bedrooms. Each lodge is equipped with a private bathroom with warm water and basic amenities. Guests will have an opportunity to visit the shaman's house and observe various aspects of Hmong and Lahu cultures.

The PATA Thailand Chapter is organising a day-long seminar Friday January 23 entitled, "Quality and Quantity - What Is Best for Thailand´s Tourism Industry?" The event is co-sponsored by the TAT. At the heart of the debate is the conflict between quality (higher yield) and quantity (mass) tourism. The dilemma has implications for government policies, Thailand´s economic performance, the socio-economic well-being of its population, the environment, and the integrity of cultural heritage sites. Industry leaders will analyse tourists´ evolving needs and best practice case studies of operators who have taken a position on the quality versus quantity continuum.
